ART from the ashes’ Seeds of Regrowth art exhibition and community program is
planned for October 12th - November 15th in Redding CA. Programming will take place
in downtown Redding’s Cultural District at Old City Hall, Sherven Square and California
Street Labs. Opening Reception & Artwalk is on Saturday October 12th, 2-6p all locations, 6-9p evening programming continues at California Street Labs with a series of
ensemble performances by North State Symphony musicians. The event is free and
open to the public.

See What Artists Are Doing With Fire Debris

Sixty North State artists gave new life and purpose to debris from the Carr Fire by turning it into art. Their work is part of a multi-venue exhibit in Redding intended to heal and celebrate post-fire resilience.

Weeks after the Carr Fire devastated much of Shasta County, artists started coming forward to ask the Shasta County Arts Council (SCAC) to host a show with a Carr Fire theme, SCAC representative Agata Maruszewski said. The requests kept coming, so SCAC consulted with Art from the Ashes, a Southern California non-profit that helps organize art installations in fire-devastated areas.

That project, Art from the Ashes: Seeds of Regrowth, grew into a multi-media and multi-genre project that kicks off at three Redding venues in October.

It features art made of repurposed material from Carr Fire burn sites, interactive exhibits, live music and film. The creations themselves are not necessarily related to the fire. One of them features a jelly fish made...
