Description
I painted this watercolor after the Northern California wildfire, the Carr Fire, tore through our community. The desolate earth is scorched and charred. Such destruction and devastating loss looks so broken, so hopeless, so permanent. This painting is meant to be a symbol of hope. The fire is gone but not forgotten. The boot print is the only visible evidence of the heroic force it took to stop the beast. And lastly, the single oak sapling sprouting forth from an acorn left by caring hands or a careless squirrel is the reminder that we can replant, rebuild and restore what was lost.
